Outreach Services

Picture
Informed by the Feasibility Study and the 2015-2018 Strategic Plan, Yarra Me School Outreach programs have been developed to assist mainstream schools in building the capacity of teaching staff to better understand and support the needs of students with social, emotional and behavioural issues.

The Response to Intervention (RTI) approach is used as a process for assessing and maximising the opportunity to learn for our students. It emphasizes the importance of effective, responsive  early intervention for students in need of intensive supports.

The RTI framework uses a three tiered approach:
-          Personalising supports for students
-          Building Teacher confidence and skills
-          Strengthen universal approaches

Yarra Me School specialist teachers use a range of inclusive supports including a trauma informed approach to assist schools in the development of personalising learning plans and behaviour management plans for students in need.

Yarra Me School teachers work in collaboration with referring schools in a mentoring role to develop a broader range of strategies to support students in Out-of-Home-Care and students presenting with challenging behaviours.
